Gus is a gorgeous black and white spotted draft quarter horse. He is built beautifully with a strong, athletic conformation and has a smart, sound mind. Just like a big ole puppy dog, Gus is friendly and fun, personable and loving. Gus is 5 years old and stands 16 hands high. His list of skills are quite impressive. Pair that with his looks and mindset and you can see that he is an outstanding horse!
Gus lopes nice, easy circles and takes the correct leads both ways. He has a great stop, one hand neck-reins and side passes both ways.
Gus is also a trick horse! At your command he will lay down and will also sit, either from the ground or while you are mounted. He will side pass to a mounting block (or whatever you choose to mount from) and will stand to be mounted. He also side passes with ease to open and close gates.
Gus is also an excellent trail horse. Gus has extensive trail riding experience and is a trail horse deluxe! He’s been trail ridden many miles by our entire family! He will go up and down steep hills with ease, through mud, ditches and deep water, over logs and through brush. Gus is surefooted on rough rocky terrain and has seen and ridden all of it! He will ride out alone or with a group, in the front or in the back.
Gus is also an outstanding ranch horse. He has been used on our farm to check fences and cattle; to move, sort, work and doctor cattle. He has been pasture roped off of as well. He is very level headed and patient when working around cattle and helps make the job go smoothly. Gus has also been used to help sort and pen cattle at the stock yards. He is no stranger to the farm life and he excels in every area.
Gus drives single or double. Whether a cart, wagon or farm machinery of some sort, Gus is your man for the job. He has experience and does well. He is completely traffic safe as well and has been ridden and driven to town.
We’ve also shown Gus at local horse shows where he was a crowd favorite. We barrel raced him and showed him in western pleasure where he was the perfect gentleman. He paid no mind to all the lights, crowds, stands, noise and commotion.
Gus has seen the world and been exposed to a variety of things. From all sorts of livestock, to wildlife such as deer and turkey, to tarps, whips and guns, to the goats and barn cats that run in and out of the stall with him- he is familiar with it all.
In the stall Gus is clean and he gets along well with other horses in the pasture. He is easy to catch and he stands patiently in the cross ties. He loads and hauls wonderful also, loves to play with the big bouncy ball, loves grooming and a bath and is a joy to be around.
Gus is an exceptional animal with a heart as big as he is. Horses like Gus are not offered for sale very often.
