Leiding is a 16-year-old mare and a true gem. She is a delight for any sensitive rider and an excellent teacher for children and young riders. She is very responsive and light in the aids, reacting attentively to seat, breathing, and voice, but despite her sensitive nature, she is completely bombproof. Leiding fears nothing and is unshakable in any situation. Traffic, tractors, snowplows, trains – all pose no problem. She consistently moves forward purposefully and confidently, acting as a rock in turbulent situations. She is equally reliable alone or in a group.

In terms of gait, she is a very balanced five-gaited horse. She is easy to ride in tölt, with a secure trot and a comfortable walk. Her canter is more collected but especially suitable for riding in the terrain. Leiding has a very reliable running gait, which she loves and can easily switch into tölt. When ridden by adult riders, she moves forward briskly and willingly, always motivated with good impulsion. She is very gentle and cautious with children, handling them with great care. She is patient when leading, grooming, picking out hooves, or brushing her mane. It makes no difference if the brush falls to the ground or if the child beside her falls off the saddle.

In dressage, she is well-trained and an excellent teacher for students: she responds to the smallest aids with shoulder-in and leg yield. She can perform travers in walk and tölt, and shoulder-in is also possible in trot.

Unfortunately, she has a hay dust allergy and would need a stable suited for allergy sufferers. She is completely symptom-free when fed with steamed or soaked hay, or with haylage/fermented hay.

Due to her very firm, compact, and somewhat narrow hooves, she is prone to hoof sole thrush. Regular trimming, proper care, and dry housing are essential. However, she is fantastic barefoot: walk, trot, tölt, and canter are all no problem barefoot, although she finds cantering on hard ground a bit more challenging without shoes.

Currently, I have very little time for her due to my three children. If the perfect match arises—a family that loves and appreciates our gem as much as we do, with optimal living conditions—we would consider selling her.
