Er möchte seinem Menschen gefallen und macht einfach Spaß – egal ob auf dem Reitplatz, im Gelände oder bei der Bodenarbeit. Dressurmäßig ist er bis Klasse L ausgebildet und beherrscht die entsprechenden Lektionen, wird derzeit mangels Ambition allerdings hauptsächlich freizeitmäßig geritten. Darüber hinaus kennt er Trailhindernisse, kleine Sprünge, Bodenarbeit und die Doppellonge. Er wird sowohl mit Gebiss als auch gebisslos geritten und kennt auch das Reiten ohne Sattel. Seine größte Stärke ist jedoch sein zuverlässiger Charakter. Im Gelände ist Apollo ein absolutes Verlasspferd – sowohl alleine als auch in der Gruppe. Traktoren, Kühe, Wasser oder normaler Straßenverkehr bringen ihn nicht aus der Ruhe. Aktuell wird er unter anderem von einer 12-jährigen Einsteigerin mitgeritten, die mit ihm sogar alleine ins Gelände geht. Er bleibt dabei jederzeit brav, entspannt und zuverlässig. Unarten wie Bocken, Steigen oder Durchgehen sind ihm fremd. Er ist motiviert, aber nie hektisch oder überdreht und eignet sich dadurch hervorragend für Freizeitreiter, Mutter-Kind-Paare oder alle, die einen ehrlichen Partner für viele gemeinsame Jahre suchen.
