If you’re looking for the perfect mix of regal presence and adorable charm, meet Benji! This gorgeous gelding is the best of two worlds: his sire is the renowned RALFLAND RANGER, a UK Fell Pony stallion celebrated for his sturdy bone, sure-footedness, and work ethic, while his dam MISHTO was imported directly from the UK, bringing the signature Gypsy Vanner feather, elegance, and gentle mind. Under saddle, Benji is fancy broke. He’s light and responsive, has a lovely one-handed neck rein, has smooth, correct turnarounds, and beautiful walk-to-lope transitions. He’ll plant his hind end for a nice stop, move easily off leg, and side pass with ease. He’s the kind that tries to get it right every time—because pleasing his rider is his goal. Athletic for the breed and balanced in every gait, he’s as nice to ride as he is to look at.
Benji isn’t just an arena horse, either. He’s seen and done a little bit of everything and take to new jobs with a willing attitude. He’s tracked the roping sled, has started some breakaway and heeling, lopes through the barrels and poles, gone over jumps, and even tried his hand at mounted shooting. Out on the trail, he’ll cross water, push through brush, and go anywhere you point him. Western, English, bareback—Benji doesn’t care.
On the ground, he’s as sweet and uncomplicated as they come. He loves people, meets you at the gate, stands quietly to saddle and bridle, and trailers great. He gets along with the herd, has great feet that can stay barefoot, and stands like a pro for the farrier. He’s blemish-free aside from a couple of old cosmetic splints and is 100% sound.
Benji is best suited for a more experienced rider as he appreciates a slower warm-up, if not, when you first trot or lope off, he can occasionally be a little humpy until he’s loosened up. He’s not mean and has zero intent to buck you off—he’s just young, sensitive, and still maturing. Once he’s warmed up, he rides off soft and quiet, and we fully expect this to disappear as he matures. He’s even been ridden by younger kids after being warmed up by an adult and takes excellent care of them, which speaks volumes about his honest nature and kind heart.
Benji is the whole package: bred right, trained right, and as sweet as can be.
