GRH Celtic Surprise, lovingly called Ronan and Rony Pony and Big Fluffy, is registered with the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. He was bred by Golden R Heart Ranch. Sired by Ballydangan Khan-Do (Shambo/Banjo) out of FKGH Rayne (FKGH Creedence/Love Biscuit). Ronan is a solid palomino ee Aa nCr nW20 and negative for PSSM and FIS.

Ronan's fairytale looks, impressive size and color, and all-around training make him the total package! This stunning gelding is 5 years old and a little over 16H tall. Ronan has been ridden by children, beginners, timid amateurs, and elderly riders. He is always a perfect gentleman and safe for riders of all ages!

Ronan is a true all-around horse. He rides English and Western and has great flatwork training. He knows his leads, leg yielding, side passing, turn on the forehand and haunches, shoulder-in, simple changes, rein back, etc. He can ride out on the buckle or collect into a frame and ride with a contact. He is naturally more whoa than go, but moves off the leg easily.

Ronan is the very best trail and guest horse! He has been camping and trail riding all across the state of Florida, at Hitchcock Woods in Aiken, South Carolina, and in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina on steep eroded mountain trails where one misplaced hoof will lead to a cliffside fall. Ronan is 100% rock solid on trails. He stays calm and relaxed in all circumstances. Does not care about wildlife jumping out, dogs running underfoot, other horses misbehaving, heavy traffic, big loud crowds at parades, speedboats flying past him on waterfront trails, pewpews or fireworks, river crossings, etc. He will bravely lead the group, follow behind, or ride out alone with no issues. He ponies all of our young horses on trails, through trail obstacle courses, and while swimming in the lake, making it easy for the other horses to build confidence.


Ronan is the best horse to ride in a parade if you want to relax and have fun. He attended the All Breeds Parade in downtown Ocala with thousands of people lining the streets and cars speeding past on Highway 40 only feet away. He stayed afterwards for a Q&A and photo ops with children. Ronan also loves trail obstacle practice. All of the obstacles are easy for him - teeter totter, suspension bridge, walking under tarps and pool noodles, over moving platforms, and through man-made water crossings. He would be a perfect choice for a therapeutic riding program or a Mounted Police unit.

Ronan is a superstar with jumping and cross country. A beginner can ride him around an eventing course with ditches, banks, coops, trakehners, coffins, and water features. Ronan is the easiest horse to jump. And super comfortable too! All you have to do is point him at the jump and he will take care of the rest, even if the rider doesn’t know how to count strides, set up a good distance, or have proper jumping form. Ronan is forgiving and very tolerant of rider mistakes. He has attended hunter paces at Misty Morning Hounds and a fox hunting clinic with a hound walk and drag hunt. He could easily step into a 2nd or 3rd flight fox hunting role this season. Ronan has the brain to be a reliable guest horse and we would not hesitate to let a staff member borrow him to lead the field or whip in.
