How cute is this girl! Meet ✨Candy!✨ (Sibling to Hershey)☺️ This pretty mare is a 3-year-old, 15–15.1hh Gypsy Vanner/Spotted Draft X. This pair is some of the nicest-looking 3-year-olds we’ve come across—already so nicely filled out and round! Candy was simply born quiet with a good brain. She’s been a pleasure to have in the barn; easy, simple, and one we can look forward to working with! She’s broke to ride English, Western, bareback, and drives both single and double! 💕
Under harness, Candy acts like she has 30 years of experience and miles under her belt. In reality, she is just blessed with being so easy, quiet, and intelligent. She could really pass for a pro! She stands to hitch and works well in a team or alone. She’s steady and unflappable, responding with only a light rein and voice cues. She and her brother, Hershey, just make the cutest pair! We’d love to see them go together as they work so well. A good matched team like them is hard to find, however, we are being realistic and offering them separately. Hitched up alone, Candy keeps her steady, unwavering demeanor and always looks to please.
On the trail, Candy is happy to be out—always with ears forward and a curiosity about her. She’ll pack anyone on the trail and tends to mosey along in the back with her slow, quiet demeanor. She will lead without hesitation if she’s put in the front, and she’s not one to mind if another horse rides too close or gets in her space. She is very non-marish toward other horses and gets along with everyone both under saddle and in the pasture. She’s a good trail blazer with a careful step and a willing attitude. She’d make a great husband horse! She’ll go through the woods, through the open fields, or really anywhere you point her. She’s seen bikers, hikers, dogs, traffic, and wildlife on the trail, and she takes everything in stride without batting an eye. She’ll go right into the river and crosses the creeks. This girl genuinely enjoys being out and is one of the most unbothered, nonchalant three-year-olds we’ve ever encountered! We think she’d thrive with a trail job and would be so fun to paper chase or fox hunt with. There aren’t many three-year-olds we trust like her. We've even ridden into town over busy highways with semi trucks going by her—and she was a saint! Unflappable and steady. No questions asked.
Under saddle in the arena, Candy is straightforward while learning the basics. She’s a complete push ride—one you can have all the leg on, and even use a crop or spur if needed. She wants to be slow and steady, however, she will walk, trot, and canter both directions. She picks up both leads easily! Candy is naturally a plug, but will get up and go with some encouragement. She has easy transitions and good brakes. This girl stands to mount, walks and trots over poles, and has even popped over a cross-rail with the cutest knees! We have no doubt she’ll be athletic and a fun one to jump once she matures more and develops a stronger work ethic. She’s comfortable to sit trot and to canter. Her pretty stockings and cute movement give her all the flash in the arena, and she gets noticed everywhere she goes! This mare is the same horse on property as she is off, and she’d be safe and quiet enough for an AA or JR rider to continue bringing along. 🙌🏼
In the barn, Candy wants to be your best friend and loves attention. She stands to be brushed, tacked up, braided—and she even likes to dress up for the holidays! 😍 She’s well-behaved for the farrier and vet and picks up all four feet easily. She has zero vices in the stall or turnout. She is a young horse who sometimes still needs reminders about ground manners and personal space—but only because she would live in your pocket if she could! She’s been desensitized to just about everything and is never one to give a big reaction or lose her head- (generally she tried to taste test new things instead).😆 She naturally has a curious, calm demeanor.
