“Fabio” is just that — fabulous! A 13-year-old purebred registered Haflinger gelding with luxurious feathering and the sweetest disposition. There is something so striking about Fabs — we just can’t get enough of this cute guy.

Fabio stands a sturdy 14.2H. He’s heavy-boned and strong as an ox in stature, yet kind and approachable. He has confidently packed larger husbands down the trail with ease and has proven himself a reliable trail mount year after year. He’s been with the same family for the past eight years and is now ready to bring his fun-loving character to your family farm. Honestly, Fabio should have a sign around his neck that says “Will Work for Cookies,” because this boy loves his treats! Warning: you may find yourself wanting to spend more time with Fabio in the barn, ring, and out on the trail than with your own husband.

Fabio is happy-go-lucky, jolly, and just the right amount of goofy. If you’re looking for a friendly, charismatic, and gentle gelding — Fabio is your man. He’ll play with lead ropes, toss around balls, and splash happily in the water. He isn’t afraid of cows or wildlife and has frequently been used on a cattle ranch to check fences, sort cattle, and move pastures. He crosses water, navigates bridges, and steps into ravines confidently.

He’s a total puppy dog on the ground — easy to catch, clip, tie, load, and back out of the trailer. He stands quietly for mounting and is well-mannered for the farrier and vet. He was recently body-clipped (standing in the cross ties for three hours with no twitch!). Over the years, he has mainly been a trail horse and has tolerated all sorts of silly shenanigans — including the owner’s son shooting arrows off his back while he stood like a statue.

Fabio has been started in driving by a professional teamster, though he is not yet finished to cart. He also spent several months under the guidance of Elliot Holtzman and Caitie Holtzman of Versatile Horsemanship to further refine him under saddle. He has smooth, quality movement suitable for progressing up the levels in dressage and is currently schooling First Level. He is proficient in leg-yields, lengthenings, stretching in his circles, and simple changes.


He can be a bit lazy if allowed, but he will happily step up into the trot and canter when asked. I consider him perfectly in the middle, not a racecar but not a deadhead plug either. He has a fantastic “whoa” button and comes right back down off your seat. Ride him in a snaffle, halter, or bosal — he is soft, responsive, and willing. He would also transition beautifully into a therapy-type home and is suitable and safe for my older clientele. Whether it’s short hacks around the property or long adventures through forest and plains, Fabio is confident and steady wherever you point him. I wouldn’t hesitate to load him up and head to any preserve, park, or country trail — he’s sure-footed, quiet, and has an excellent brain. He has also recently been used for lessons with novice children, where he proved obedient, tolerant, kind, and gentle.


He has always been 100% sound and is currently barefoot. He has no leg blemishes, no known health issues, and does not require special supplements or maintenance. His AHR papers and bill of sale are in order and ready for transfer at the time of sale. A current vet statement of soundness, dental float chart, Coggins, and up-to-date vaccine records are all on file and available for viewing at your convenience.
