KK SHAKER BAKER — “RED”
2016 Bay Gelding | 14.2 Hands | Approx. 1,100 lbs.
Seasoned. Broke. Dependable. Proven.
KK Shaker Baker, affectionately known as “Red,” is the kind of gelding that is getting increasingly hard to find. Standing 14.2 hands and weighing approximately 1,100 pounds, Red is stout-made, handy, extremely broke, and backed by years of real-world experience. From long days in the feedyard and gathering cattle to roping and miles of trails, Red has truly been there, done that.
Red has been used extensively in the feedyard and knows what a full day’s work looks like. He is accustomed to large numbers of cattle, heavy equipment, trucks, noise, tight spaces, long hours, and the everyday commotion of a working operation. He stays composed, understands his job, and is the kind you can saddle up and go get something done on.
He has also seen countless miles outside gathering, sorting, and working cattle. Red has a ton of roping experience both outside and in the arena. He knows how to handle cattle, stays stout to the horn, and has the experience and confidence that only comes from actually doing the job.Red isn’t just a work horse—he is an absolute pleasure to ride.
Red is extremely broke, soft, responsive, and enjoyable to operate. He has the handle you’d expect from a seasoned gelding and is forgiving enough to accommodate just about any level of rider. An experienced hand will appreciate how broke and useful he is, while a less experienced rider can appreciate his confidence and seasoned nature.
Take him out of the arena and Red may be even more impressive. He is a saint on the trails. He has been hauled all over and remains the same dependable gelding wherever you unload him. He willingly crosses water, bridges, rough terrain, and uneven country and confidently handles wildlife, traffic, and new surroundings. He doesn’t need to be babysat down the trail—point him where you want to go and enjoy the ride.
Red is equally enjoyable on the ground. He is easy to catch, saddle, bathe, load, unload, and haul. Whether you’re saddling before daylight for a long day’s work, loading up for a weekend trail ride, or simply spending time around the barn, Red is uncomplicated and pleasant to have around.
His pedigree only adds to the package. Red carries proven cow-horse blood throughout his papers, with names including Freckles Playboy, Doc’s Hickory, Gay Jay, Widow’s Freckles, Possum Playboy, and Possum Hickory in his pedigree.
What truly separates Red, though, isn’t something you can see on a registration paper.
It’s the miles.
You can put training on a horse, but you can’t manufacture years of honest experience. Red has spent his life gaining the kind of confidence, knowledge, and seasoning that only comes from being used. He has had a job, traveled the miles, seen the sights, and learned to take care of his rider along the way.
If you’re searching for one gelding that can do a little bit of everything, Red deserves your attention. Use him on the ranch, take him to the roping pen, spend the day gathering cattle, or load him up and head for the mountains.
Red is stout, handy, extremely broke, and about as versatile as they come.
