Gideon is the kind of horse that makes you breathe a little easier when you swing a leg over. He is an 11 year old, 14.3 hand bay gelding who is stout, well made, safe, sane, and genuinely easy to get along with. He has the kind of quiet, dependable mind that makes you feel confident in the saddle and comfortable having him around your family.
One of Gideon’s best qualities is how simple and uncomplicated he is to ride. His buttons are easy, his neck rein is there, and he will walk, trot, and lope nice circles without making you work for it. He is a true point and go horse who does not require a rider to know a hundred buttons or constantly manage every step. Gideon is forgiving, willing, and easy to understand, making him a fantastic choice for a husband, kids, or anyone who simply wants to get on and enjoy their horse.
Gideon has a wonderful attitude about new things. He is very desensitized, not spooky, and takes new situations in stride. He is the kind of horse that you can introduce something new to without wondering how he is going to react. He stays calm, thinks his way through things, and goes right back to his job.
Out on the trail is where Gideon really shows what kind of horse he is. He is happy to lead the group, ride quietly in the middle, or bring up the back without getting anxious or needing to be constantly pushed along. He will cross through brush, puddles, and water and is very sure footed and careful about where he places his feet. He has been around dogs and other livestock and handles them like a seasoned trail horse. Most importantly, Gideon has the kind of mindset that feels like he is always looking out for his rider.
He is just as easy to live with when the saddle comes off. Gideon is very easy to catch and will often walk right up to you in a field full of other horses. He stands quietly to be saddled, groomed, and bathed and is accustomed to being in a mixed herd. He trailers and hauls well and is happy whether he is turned out or standing in a stall. Gideon is also a very easy keeper and does well on a mostly forage diet, making him simple and economical to maintain.
Whether you are looking for a dependable trail partner, a husband horse, a kids horse, or simply a good minded gelding you can pull out of the pasture and enjoy, Gideon checks all the boxes. He is the kind of horse you can catch on a random afternoon, saddle up, point down the trail, and know you are going to have a good ride.
