Everyone remembers the calming, lifelong companion to Seabiscuit and what key factors she had in his historic career. Well, allow us to introduce our Pumpkin. A 2021 AQHA Registered Palomino mare that has the pedigree, disposition, and looks to leave a man speechless. We’ve owned and admired a lot of horses…trust us when we say, “We’ve NEVER seen one like her.”
Pumpkin was bred and raised on the historic LX Ranch just outside of Amarillo, Tx. Dave Anderson has spent his entire life engineering the pedigree, cow sense, longevity, and timeless confirmation in these ranch raised horses. Some people never get it right, but he has, and Pumpkin is an exact prodigy of Dave’s efforts; jaw dropping shape, foot and bone, size and frame to last, cow sense, quiet disposition, and ride in that hide!
Our big, beautiful girl has seen lots of miles and has wisdom well beyond her years. Want to go drag calves, sort in the Feedyard, ship cattle, trail ride, or just lope pretty circles? She does it all and then some. Pumpkin is fancy. She will stay right between the bridle reins, no matter how much pressure you poor on her. Catches both leads, spins, stops, side passes, whatever you ask of her, she will try her heart out. Pumpkin will ride one handed, no handed, backwards, or blindfolded…Best part is, you can lay her off for weeks at a time and she will saddle up and ride off with zero funny business. She’s been in the best of hands since she was a weanling. She can pull the barn down, will really watch a cow, then we’ve tossed Ky up on her and he’s tracked out calves at a calf roping on her. Whether you take her in the bright lights and chaos or need the peaceful, calm in the branding pen, she accepts the responsibility and aims to please.
Pumpkin is an “in your pocket” type of horse. She loves people, loves attention, gets along great with other horses, and has been treated like a gelding since she was born. No mare business to deal with here. She comes equipped with all the Ranch Horse Manner’s; loads, hauls, stands tied, tacks up, stands for the farrier, backs herself off a trailer, no nickering or buddy sour stuff, she’s pure to her core.
