Cavallo da manzo spagnolo - non adatto ai principianti

I have made the difficult decision, after much consideration, to find a new home for my 16-year-old Andalusian gelding.

Massimo has been in my care for about four years, and I’ve tried to do my best for him. I bought him quite naively at the time.  
Generally, Massimo is a very sweet horse. He is rideable, but his back is a bit sensitive, and I’ve only been able to build minimal muscle there over the years.  
However, the bigger issue is something I can no longer manage, and I am at my wit’s end.  
Massimo has a significant problem with being alone. In an open stable with a gelding herd, he was completely relaxed and had no issues. But we recently moved stables, and the problem we previously had in a box stall has now reoccurred.  
He becomes very attached to a mare and clings to her. As soon as he is only 10 meters away from her, he panics. I have no possibility to return to the previous stable, and there are no open stables with only geldings in my area.  

The fact is, only an open stable with a gelding herd will do for him.  

Another issue is that Massimo has suffered from sweet itch for the past two years, but it is well-controlled with creams and turnout rugs.  

He enjoys groundwork and is very well-behaved under saddle. Due to his back, I haven’t ridden him very often, but even after two months without riding, he remains very calm. I have never known him to buck or rear.  

That’s the most important information.
