If you’ve been searching for a showstoppin’ heartthrob of a gelding that will turn every head and do anything you ask of him, slide on over and meet Shepherd. This stunning horse radiates charisma and has a great big heart with so much love to give and he’s ready to find his forever match. GVHS registered Stardust’s Rollin' Thunder “Shepherd” is a 5 year old, tri-colored tobiano GRAND Gypsy Vanner gelding standing an impressive 15.2 hands tall. Shepherd has the willingness and presence to have any future you can envision. He is a happy work of art, created for the show ring - but he could just as easily be your trusted trail partner, your adventure buddy, and your best friend. He has gorgeous locks, heavy feather and he sports the coveted black Gypsy tail which helps keep him looking polished and clean.
On the trails and at the ranch, Shepherd is a calm, confident and comfortable ride. He does not blink twice at new sights and sounds and he will happily lead the way or bring up the rear in a group. He will climb the hills, cross the water, jump the logs and hang out patiently while you stop to chat with your friends. He is kind and gentle to all horses, humans, ponies, chickens, barn cats and the like.
This special gelding is versatile and broke to ride English in a snaffle, bareback in a halter, or Western in a bridle. He is responsive and moves very nicely off of leg pressure - we could easily see him progressing into the dressage ring or parading his flashy good looks around on drill team. Shepherd has been lightly started over 2’ fences and has the athleticism, enthusiasm and scope for future advancement - he REALLY loves to jump and would make an excellent fox hunter! Shepherd thrives on connection and is also a strong candidate for advanced liberty work. He listens intently, hooks on naturally, and learns cues very quickly.
Shepherd is drone trained, exposed to ATV’s and handles the flags, tarps and ball with zero trouble. He sure doesn’t mind being groomed, braided, and doted on. He enjoys his baths and post ride rinses because one of his favorite treats is drinking water straight from the hose! He is a gentleman on the ground, easy to catch, stands nicely for the farrier, travels to new places well and loads and unloads from the trailer with ease. He is an easy keeper, currently on a forage only diet. He sells sound and UTD with freshly floated teeth.
