Stormy is a gorgeous 5yr 15.3h dappled grey gelding. He is a unique cross - Andalusian x Friesian x Knabstrupper x Percheron. He is microchipped and registered with American Warmblood Registry, eligible for breed awards. We purchased Stormy directly from the breeder Big Sexy Stables, so his entire history is known and he has always been healthy and sound.
Since our new property has been under constant construction, the majority of Stormy's training has been outside of the arena. He has been exposed to a lot in training and has exceeded our expectations - riding around bonfires, hundreds of trees being knocked over, fence post pounders, well drilling rigs, excavators, loose dogs, etc. With no arena to ride in yet, Stormy has logged hundreds of miles on the trails riding alone and with groups of all sizes. He will lead or follow and go through the trappiest of terrain including mucky swamps and palm forests so thick you can't see 2ft in front of you. He grew up around cattle and doesn’t mind wildlife out on the trail. Stormy loves water and is always up for a swim. He has been hauled off-site many times for trail riding and dressage lessons.
Stormy is a gem! He has a playful puppydog temperament and a great work ethic. Very smart and trainable. Loves to ride and spend time with his person. Stormy rides english and western. He has been nicely started on the flat and has just been introduced to jumping. He is the uphill athletic type with a smooth trot and super comfortable canter. He is perfectly forward, light in the bridle, and rides off of the seat and leg. With his athleticism and solid foundation, Stormy would excel in working equitation, eventing, fox hunting, trail competition, or dressage. He has a nice stop, a smooth backup, and is well-started laterally— leg yielding, shoulder fore, side passing, and turning on the haunches. He will walk to canter, counter canter, and does simple changes. He is the same horse every day, no matter if you go on vacation and let him sit for a week or two. Perfect gentleman for the vet and farrier. Easy to catch, tie, bathe, clip, etc. Has always been sound with beautiful barefoot hooves. He lives out in a mixed herd and gets along with all of the horses.
